Why this exists

THE DATE IS set, The order is yours, the deadline is real, and your brand needs to win.

You know your brand. You know your event. Somehow, you also ended up responsible. You're not alone.

When Krystie Mariano started ordering event materials at Studio J Lorne, she had no production experience. She earned her education the expensive way: quality surprises, shipping delays, uncomfortable vendor conversations, and late nights solving new problems as the industry shifted.

Most people never see the production schedules, the countless emails, or the vendor coordination behind a successful project. They simply experience the final product and the impression it leaves about your brand. The Branded Event Operations Checklist was written for those of us who spend months trying to make a couple event days feel perfect.

a checklist to make your event an immersive experience

Because a great event should be more than a collection of things you ordered.

✓ Make people feel something. From ten feet away to the follow-up, they feel surrounded by a welcome.

✓ Make people do something. Every detail does a job in hitting your defined success number(s).

✓ Make people remember something. They leave saying exactly what you intended them to say.

Use these checkpoints to make sure you create an experience that feels intentional, from the first hello to the final follow-up.

01

Set the Strategy

The phase most people skip, and the one that makes every later decision obvious. Skip it and you fill a landfill on budget.

02

Timelines That Hold

One delivery target removes event-week panic entirely. Plus the hard truth about rush orders most vendors won't say out loud.

03

Vendor Qualification

One signal in the first email predicts the whole relationship. Most buyers never think to look for it.

04

Quote Review

The cheapest quote is rarely the cheapest order. Inside: the line items vendors hope you skim past.

05

Sample Evaluation & Artwork Control

One rule prevents the most expensive category of mistakes in the book. It takes a sentence to say and almost nobody follows it.

06

Production Monitoring & Receiving Inspection

The high-alert signals that mean pivot now, and the loading-dock ritual that keeps problems on the vendor's dime.

07

The Vendor Scorecard

Seven dimensions, scored every order. A few orders in, you have a preferred vendor list instead of a bookmark folder and a prayer.

The Field Guides

The risk-tier matrix, the "Big Five" problem purchases where trouble actually clusters, 20 hidden risks, 20 vendor insights, and the full life of a branded product from idea to delivery.

Why trust this

You can get the merch. You can get it branded. You can even get it on time and it can still be wrong.

Studio J Lorne is a branding studio. We don't print shirts, stock tote bags, or take a cut of your order. These are our internal production standards, translated for the person who got handed the order.

Our primary objective: make sure your brand shows up with the quality it deserves.

Why us

We've brought events to light from every seat in the house.

Every budget

Shoestring nonprofit to flagship launch, the checkpoints are the same.

Every team size

A committee of one or a crew of forty, the system carries the weight.

Everywhere

Produced around the world, where "where is this actually made?" gets answered early.

Every timeline

Generous runways — and three-week sprints from scratch to full concept.

Who this is for

If merch, print, or event production landed on your plate without a manual, this is the manual.

Event & conference organizers

Who live by the countdown and cannot have 1,500 shirts arrive wrong, late, or both.

Nonprofit marketing & development teams

Where every wasted dollar is a donor's dollar, and the gala materials carry the mission in their hands.

Small business owners & marketers

Tired of gambling hundreds of dollars on a vendor's pinky promise and a proof that "should be close."

Jason Lorne Giles

Owner / Creative Director · Studio J Lorne

Jason founded Studio J Lorne. He has built in-person experiences around the world: engineering custom booths in China and Portugal with local vendors, utilizing virtual reality to walk sites remotely and plan wayfinding before anyone packed a bag, and aiding clients in closing millions of dollars out of small 10' x 10' booth spaces. Before any of it he worked the counter at FedEx Office to pay for school, which is the other end of the production chain this system is built to manage.

Krystie has run production at Studio J Lorne for over four years. She started with no experience and learned it the expensive way. The checklists exist because she kept notes.

Questions, answered.

I'm not a designer. Will I understand it?

It's written for the person the order fell on, in plain language. If you can read a checklist, you can run this system. Your designer will just be relieved someone finally sent print-ready files correctly.

What makes this different from a vendor blog?

Most vendor blogs are written to sell you products. The parts that protect your budget (vendor vetting, sample rules, proof control, receiving inspection, the scorecard) are what you'll only get from the buyer's side of the table. That's the side we sit on.

What this is not

This is NOT another promotional product guide. This is the production system Studio J Lorne uses to manage customized products and event materials.

How is this “immersive”? I just need shirts done right.

Shirts done right is level one, and The Branded Event Operations Checklist covers it cold. The immersive lens is the point of view: every physical thing at your event is a brand behavior, and the same discipline that saves your shirt order is what turns a room into an experience people remember.

When do I get it?

Instantly. It's digital, with checklists and worksheets, delivered the moment you order, yours to keep and reuse for every event after this one.

DO YOU HAVE ANY OTHER TOOLS THAT CAN HELP?

Yes! The Implementation Kit, $17 at checkout. The Branded Event Operations Checklist shows you what to do. The Implementation Kit hands you the pre-flight checklist, vendor library, folder system, and asset tracker our team runs on. Nothing built from scratch.

What if I need more help or advice?

We are here to help.
